About the The PHCP Journal


The Primary Health Care Practice Journal (PHCPJ) is an independent, open-access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes articles on primary health care practice. It is hosted by Amref International University, an affiliate of Amref Health Africa. We believe that evidence-based practices on primary health care can achieve lasting health change in Africa and elsewhere.

We believe that lasting health change in Africa can only be achieved in primary healthcare that is rooted in evidence.

Our Vision: To be a journal of choice for cutting-edge research, aligning practice with evidence in strengthening primary healthcare practice for lasting health change in Africa.

Aim and scope : To provide evidence for strengthening primary health care practice in Africa and beyond. We publish original scientific and best-practice research articles on all aspects of Primary Health Care Practice.

We welcome manuscripts in the following broad areas with a primary health care intersection: Public and Community Health, Clinical Practice, Digital Health, Social Determinants of Health, Communicable and Non-communicable Disease Epidemiology, Global Health Security, Rehabilitation Medicine, Implementation Research, Training/Capacity Building in Health Sciences, Reproductive Health, Mental and Occupational Health.
